WARRIOR KING BOOK DESIGN

Historically, graphic designers have been mediators rather than creators of the text. To challenge this paradigm, I researched into problems people encounter when visiting Ghana and designed a guide book containing first-hand information about Ghanaian culture and how visitors can navigate the Ghanaian society. Though I was designing to attract tourists, I took into consideration some of the cultural elements of the Ghanaian society. Ghana is a country located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Oceans of west Africa. Ghana means "Warrior King" in Soninke language. This is where the book derived its name. The cover design utilized vibrant colors and patterns from one of Ghana’s famous cloth known as the ‘Kente” cloth.
